Asteria Theatre at Colorado Mesa University will present the touring live event “Psychics vs. Science” on June 25, according to an April 20 announcement. The production features mentalist Joe Diamond and cognitive scientist Dr. Anthony Barnhart in a performance that explores the boundaries between intuition and scientific analysis.
The event aims to engage audiences with demonstrations of mind reading, prediction, and perception, followed by scientific explanations about attention, memory, bias, and belief. Organizers say the show is highly interactive and places audience members at the center of each performance.
Diamond said, “This isn’t church. You don’t have to believe a single word I say. Personally, I do believe we’re all a little psychic, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is what you experience in the moment during this live show.” Dr. Barnhart brings his background as a cognitive scientist to interpret these experiences for audiences in real time.
“What makes this show so compelling is that it lives right at the intersection of perception and explanation,” said Dr. Barnhart. “Joe’s performances create moments that feel impossible, and my role is to explore how our minds interpret those moments and why the answers aren’t always as straightforward as we’d like.” Tickets for the Grand Junction stop go on sale April 24 through CMUstages.com/tickets.
The tour will visit fifteen cities across the United States throughout June. More information can be found at www.psychicsvscience.com.
