The City of Grand Junction announced on April 10 a series of upcoming road closures and travel restrictions that will affect local traffic during the week of April 13, 2026. The city provided details on several ongoing projects, as well as state transportation work, urging drivers and pedestrians to plan ahead.

These changes are expected to impact daily commutes and access to various neighborhoods. Residents are advised to use caution in construction zones and follow posted detour signs.

Among the city-led projects, Four Canyons Parkway work will keep 25 Road closed from Blichmann to Waite Avenue until early May. In addition, 24 ¾ Road will be closed from Apex Avenue northbound with a temporary roadway in place. Detours will guide drivers around these areas.

Capacity improvements on D ½ Road mean it will be closed between 29 and 30 Roads, with San Juan access also restricted. Only local traffic is allowed through this section; alternate routes include using 29½ Road south to D Road.

Pedestrian routes are also affected by sidewalk closures along the north side of Patterson Road at Matchett Park between 28¼ and 28¾ Roads. Lane shifts for westbound Patterson are scheduled to begin Monday morning with potential delays; alternate routes may be advisable.

Other notable closures include a roundabout project at South Broadway and 23 Road (with a closure between Broadway & South Broadway), lead waterline replacement closing Colorado Avenue from Ninth Street to Tenth Street (open only for local traffic), and non-city projects led by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). CDOT’s I-70B Phase Seven construction brings single lane restrictions on Fifth Street between South Avenue and Colorado Avenue all week, plus ongoing Ute Avenue closures affecting both business and residential access—though these remain open. Additional single right lane closures occur during working hours Monday through Friday as part of CDOT’s CO-340 resurfacing project eastbound bridge segment.

The city encourages residents to check online resources for more information about each project before traveling.
