The City of Grand Junction announced on May 15 a series of road projects and travel restrictions that will affect local traffic during the week of May 18, 2026. The city outlined several construction activities involving lane closures, detours, and restricted access across multiple locations.
These projects are expected to impact drivers and pedestrians throughout Grand Junction. The city advises residents to allow extra travel time and follow posted detours to ensure safety while work is underway.
Among the scheduled works, lane width restrictions will be in place on 24 Road between Patterson and Kassandra from Monday through Thursday, though all traffic will still be able to pass. Crosby Avenue will remain closed through September from West Main Street to American Way but open to local traffic only. The Four Canyons Parkway Project includes a limited closure at the intersection of 25 Road and Patterson Road beginning Friday evening through Monday morning with single lanes remaining open; detours will be provided. D ½ Road will also be closed from 29 Road to 30 Road with access available only for local residents.
Pedestrian routes are affected as well: sidewalk closures along the north side of Patterson between 28¼ and 28¾ Roads require alternate routes for pedestrians until project completion. Additional night work is planned on Patterson between N. 8th Court and View Point Drive from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., while Aspen Street between Unaweep Avenue and Highway 50 will be closed during working hours for waterline replacement.
Non-city projects by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) include improvements on Ute & Pitkin Streets as part of the I-70B East of Third Street Improvement Project, resulting in single-lane operations, detours, parking modifications, and extended closures affecting business access but keeping it open. CDOT also plans overlay work on CO-340 between Redlands Parkway & Grand Avenue with possible delays up to ten minutes due to night-time lane closures.
