The City of Grand Junction announced on May 29 a series of traffic restrictions and detours for the week of June 1 due to ongoing public works projects. Several city streets will be closed or have limited access as crews conduct improvements, repairs, and upgrades across multiple locations.
Crosby Avenue will be closed between West Main Street and American Way, though business and local traffic access will remain available. The Four Canyons Parkway Project will result in the closure of 25 Road between Blichmann Avenue and Waite Avenue, as well as a northbound closure on 24 ¾ Road beginning at Apex Avenue. Detours and lane shifts are planned at the intersection of 25 Road and Patterson Road.
D ½ Road will be closed between 29 Road and 30 Road for capacity improvements, with local traffic still able to access the area. Access to San Juan Street from D ½ Road will also be restricted; however, alternate routes via 29 ½ Road from D Road are available. Pedestrian detours are being implemented along Patterson Road near Matchett Parkway with sidewalk closures on both sides between specified intersections. Lane shifts are also in place in this area.
Eastbound lane closures along Patterson Road from 24 ½ to 25 ½ Roads are scheduled throughout the week, including shoulder closures at key intersections. Aspen Street is set to close between Unaweep Avenue and Highway 50 for waterline replacement work; posted detour signs should be followed by motorists.
Additional nighttime lane closures are planned for Patterson at First Street (both directions) Sunday night, as well as eastbound lanes at Patterson and 29th Monday night from approximately 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., as part of the CIPP Lining Project.
Non-city projects affecting travel include the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Ute & Pitkin Improvements (I-70B East of Third Street Improvement Project), which reduces several downtown lanes but maintains business and residential access. Overlay work on CO-340 near Redlands Parkway through Grand Avenue requires overnight lane closures Monday through Friday. Alcove Drive at the intersection with Broadway Roundabout remains closed during construction, while CO-340 maintains two-way traffic with reduced speed limits.
