The City of Grand Junction announced on May 22 a series of road closures and lane shifts that will affect travel during the week of May 25, 2026. The projects involve both city and non-city construction work across several major roads.

These updates are important for residents and businesses as they may impact daily commutes, access to local services, and pedestrian routes throughout the city.

City-led projects include the Crosby Avenue Improvements Project, which will close Crosby Avenue between West Main Street and American Way while maintaining business and local traffic access. The Four Canyons Parkway Project will close sections of 25 Road between Blichmann Avenue and Waite Avenue, as well as restrict northbound traffic on 24¾ Road from Apex Avenue. Detours and lane shifts are planned at the intersection of 25 Road and Patterson Road.

The D½ Road Capacity Improvements Project will close D½ Road between 29 Road and 30 Road but keep access open for local traffic. Access to San Juan Street from D½ Road will be closed; however, detours via 29½ Road from D Road are available. Additional sidewalk closures along Patterson at Matchett Parkway’s entrance to the recreation center mean pedestrian detours remain in place with lane shifts affecting drivers.

Further eastbound lane closures along Patterson from 24½ to 25½ Roads are expected throughout the week due to sidewalk work; Barnes & Noble’s access off Patterson remains closed through May 22 but is accessible via nearby roads. Aspen Street will be closed between Unaweep Avenue and Highway 50 for waterline replacement, with posted detour signs guiding motorists.

Other scheduled works include overnight westbound lane closures on Patterson between Viewpoint Drive and 26½ Road starting Wednesday, May 27; overnight eastbound closures from Legends Way to Belhaven Way Thursday night through Friday morning; plus overnight changes at Patterson’s intersection with First Street on Sunday, May 31.

Non-city projects by Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) also bring single-lane reductions on Ute Avenue, Pitkin Avenue, Fifth Street between South Ave. and Colorado Ave., Fourth Street near Pitkin Ave., plus ongoing business/residential alley access during improvements related to I-70B East of Third Street. CDOT’s overlay project on CO Highway 340 includes nightly bridge lane closures Monday through Friday (7 p.m.–7 a.m.), while roundabout construction impacts are anticipated at Broadway’s intersection with 23rd Road.
