Jeanane Jiles and Jon Jiles owned Larchwood INNS in Mesa County as of the first quarter of 2026, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data shows. The facility has been under their ownership since Dec. 1, 2014.

Larchwood INNS operates as a for-profit facility.

During the period, the nursing home held a CMS overall rating of two, which is lower than Colorado’s state average of 3.2 for nursing homes. CMS bases the rating on indicators such as health inspection results, staff levels, and the resident quality of care.

Data indicates Larchwood INNS averaged 101 residents per day in the first quarter of 2026, offering a capacity of 130 beds. The facility is not part of a hospital.

Larchwood INNS incurred two fines totaling $37,680 and received two penalties as of the first quarter of 2026.

Mesa County had a total of seven for-profit nursing homes during this timeframe.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that the older population nationwide is rising as younger groups decrease. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and over grew by 13% while those under 18 declined 1.7%. The country’s older population has surged over the previous century, jumping from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A study from 2021 estimates that nearly half of Americans in this age group, about 28 million people, could require long-term services and supports. The same study projects that over one-third may ultimately need care in a nursing home.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, which provides insurance information. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
