Rep. Jeff Hurd, who represents Colorado’s Third Congressional District, recently shared several updates on his official Twitter account regarding district initiatives and local events.
On December 2, 2025, Rep. Hurd announced the launch of a new podcast for his district: “Hurd in the House is now available on Apple Podcasts! As the official podcast for Colorado’s Third Congressional District, we’re bringing you inside the conversations that matter. From talking with the local leaders who keep #CO03 running, to going behind the scenes with House”.
The following day, December 3, 2025, he addressed a recent incident involving a train derailment along the Gunnison River: “I have been briefed on last night’s train derailment along the Gunnison River in #CO03, and I’m grateful both engineers were rescued. Thank you to the Grand Junction Fire Department, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Mesa County Search and Rescue, and all first responders for”. The tweet highlights his appreciation for local emergency services’ response efforts after both engineers involved were safely rescued.
Later that same day, Rep. Hurd discussed new legislation aimed at improving airport infrastructure funding in his district: “Our local airports shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to access federal infrastructure loans. My new bill, the Airport TIFIA Financing Certainty Act, makes it easier for airports in #CO03 to get the financing they need for critical upgrades, without raising local taxes.”. The bill intends to streamline access to federal loans for airport improvements while avoiding increases in local taxes.
Colorado’s Third Congressional District covers much of western and southern Colorado. In recent years there has been an emphasis among lawmakers on securing infrastructure funding and responding quickly to emergencies within rural communities.
