Rep. Jeff Hurd, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Colorado’s 3rd congressional district, shared updates on social media regarding personal milestones and legislative priorities in mid-February 2026.
On February 14, Hurd posted a personal message marking Valentine’s Day: “How it started How it’s going

The following day, Hurd addressed fiscal policy and Congressional responsibility. On February 15, he wrote: “Congress has the power of the purse . . . but too often avoids using it responsibly.
In the Washington Examiner, I make the case for restoring budget discipline and real accountability in Congress.

Members of Congress have constitutional authority over federal spending decisions—a role sometimes described as “the power of the purse”—but debates continue about how effectively this authority is exercised.
Later that day, Hurd turned to tax policy changes relevant to his constituents. On February 15, he posted: “Filing your 2025 taxes? A few important changes to know before April 15:
Bigger refunds for many families: the average tax cut is about $600, and some refunds could be up to $1,000 higher.
Higher standard deduction: $15,750 (single), $31,500 (married filing jointly).
” These figures reflect recent adjustments to federal tax law that increase both average family refunds and standard deductions for individual and joint filers.
Hurd was elected to represent Colorado’s 3rd district after winning a closely watched race in November 2024.
