Rep. Jeff Hurd, U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 3rd congressional district, has recently highlighted his legislative and community activities through a series of posts on social media.
On January 8, 2026, Rep. Hurd addressed the House of Representatives regarding efforts to override the President’s veto of H.R. 131, known as the Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act. He stated, “Today, I spoke on the House Floor in support of overriding the President’s veto of H.R. 131, the Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act. In 1962, Congress authorized the Arkansas Valley Conduit to deliver safe drinking water to rural communities in southeastern Colorado.” The Arkansas Valley Conduit project was initially approved by Congress over sixty years ago with the aim of providing reliable access to clean water for southeastern Colorado communities.
In another post dated January 9, 2026, Rep. Hurd shared details from a recent visit to Montrose County: “Toured the renovated Montrose County building this week and met with lots of dedicated Montrose county officials. Special thanks to new Commissioner Kristen Copeland for showing me around this practical and well-executed project, and for taking the time to meet and talk through” This visit reflects ongoing engagement with local government projects and officials in his district.
On January 10, 2026, Rep. Hurd recognized Law Enforcement Appreciation Day by expressing gratitude toward law enforcement personnel: “On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we honor the brave men and women who protect our communities each day. They face challenges most of us never see, with unwavering dedication and heart. Today and every day, we celebrate them and their loved ones who stand behind them with”
The Arkansas Valley Conduit has been a longstanding infrastructure priority for southeastern Colorado since its authorization in 1962 but has faced funding delays over decades before renewed legislative attention in recent years.
