Rep. Jeff Hurd, U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, shared a series of posts on his official X account in early January 2026, addressing legislative priorities and reflecting on his first year in office.

On January 2, 2026, Hurd announced his support for federal funding benefiting rural communities: “Proud to be a co-sponsor of this critical bill for rural Colorado. The Secure Rural Schools Act protects and extends a key federal funding program that helps counties maintain roads, schools, and essential services in areas with significant federal land—where local tax bases are”.

The following day, Hurd commented on foreign policy concerns regarding Venezuela: “The illegitimate Maduro regime has long fueled instability and criminal activity that harms the United States and our partners in the Western Hemisphere. Holding bad actors accountable matters.

I am grateful for the professionalism of our law enforcement, military, and”. In this post dated January 3, 2026, he emphasized the importance of accountability and recognized U.S. law enforcement and military personnel.

Later that same day, Hurd marked the anniversary of his swearing-in as a member of Congress: “A year ago today. Sworn in, family by my side—dinosaur included.

Grateful for the trust of #CO03 and mindful every day that this work is about service, not self. Back to work.”

The Secure Rural Schools Act referenced by Hurd provides financial assistance to counties containing national forest lands to compensate for reduced local tax revenues due to federal land ownership.
