Rep. Jeff Hurd has secured $11,007,000 in federal funding for thirteen projects throughout Colorado’s Third District as part of the fiscal year 2026 appropriations process. The funds are designated for a range of initiatives, including water infrastructure improvements, upgrades to rural healthcare facilities, enhancements at educational institutions, and support for public safety departments.
“In rural Colorado, federal infrastructure funding often determines whether hospitals can expand services, water systems can operate safely, and first responders can obtain the equipment they need to protect lives and property,” said Rep. Hurd. “These are not abstract policy decisions—they directly impact the lives and livelihoods of families across our district. I committed to my constituents that I would focus on delivering practical results, and this funding does exactly that.”
The allocated funding will benefit multiple counties within the district. Specific projects include $2 million for Mesa County E Road Phase III Project; $1.25 million for the Norwood Redundant Water Line Project; $1 million each for Pueblo Rest Area at Exit 108 Improvements, San Luis Valley Potato Cold Storage Facility, Pueblo County Drinking Water Quality for Citizens, and Upper Pine River Fire Protection District Community Room Project; $869,000 for Douglas Wash Detention Basin Project; $643,000 for Rangely Airport Terminal Hangar/Lab Renovations; $574,000 for Manassa Police Department Technology Improvement and Community Policing Project; $500,000 for Patrick A. Lucero Public Library Renovation and Expansion Project; $450,000 for Spanish Peaks Health Center Veterans Enhanced Transportation Services Project; $401,000 for Garfield County Drug Testing Public Safety Initiative; and $320,000 for De Beque Secondary Water Source Project.
The projects address longstanding needs in rural communities by supporting essential services such as clean water access and emergency response capabilities.
