Rep. Jeff Hurd has obtained more than $11 million in federal funding for thirteen projects throughout Colorado’s Third District as part of the FY26 Appropriations process. The funds will support water infrastructure, rural healthcare, educational institutions, and public safety initiatives in several counties across the district.
“In rural Colorado, federal infrastructure funding often determines whether hospitals can expand services, water systems can operate safely, and first responders can obtain the equipment they need to protect lives and property,” said Rep. Hurd. “These are not abstract policy decisions—they directly impact the lives and livelihoods of families across our district. I committed to my constituents that I would focus on delivering practical results, and this funding does exactly that.”
The list of funded projects includes $2 million for the Mesa County E Road Phase III Project, $1.25 million for the Norwood Redundant Water Line Project, $1 million each for improvements at Pueblo Rest Area at Exit 108, a San Luis Valley Potato Cold Storage Facility, Pueblo County drinking water quality improvements, and the Upper Pine River Fire Protection District Community Room Project. Other projects include $869,000 for the Douglas Wash Detention Basin Project; $643,000 for Rangely Airport Terminal Hangar/Lab Renovations; $574,000 for Manassa Police Department Technology Improvement and Community Policing; $500,000 for Patrick A. Lucero Public Library renovation and expansion; $450,000 for Spanish Peaks Health Center Veterans Enhanced Transportation Services; $401,000 for Garfield County Drug Testing Public Safety Initiative; and $320,000 for De Beque Secondary Water Source Project.
The allocation targets longstanding needs in rural communities by enhancing local infrastructure and supporting public safety departments.
