Mesa County issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.
A mix of rain and snow affected work on the Palisade Plunge Trail, but crews managed to squeeze out some victory by sacrificing part of their weekend to catch up.
On Phase 1, the crew and the mini-ex roughed-in a combined 2,610 feet of trail, finished about 1,000 feet of that total, and connected the Blowout area's unfinished ends. About 3,660 feet are left to clean up, and some rock work to wrap up, but this means that the entire Phase 1 is now connected from start to finish. After the crew finishes this cleanup work, they will be joining Phase 2.
About 16.27 miles of total finished trail is complete, which leaves 6 tenths of a mile to go before completing Phase 1 (total 16.83 miles).
