Mesa County issued the following announcement on Oct. 2.
Property taxes officially become delinquent after June 15 each year. If a taxpayer fails to pay on time, the unpaid portion is considered delinquent and can incur penalty charges and go through a tax sale. For payments postmarked after each deadline date, taxpayers must include the appropriate penalty charge with property tax payment. Forms of payment can typically be made by mail, drop box, online, or in person.
However, as the Mesa County Treasurer’s Office prepares for publication and conduct of the Nov. 30 Tax Lien Sale, the online payment system has been disabled — delinquent tax payments are now required to be paid with certified funds.
