City of Grand Junction issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.
The winter storm on Sunday, October 25 inflicted major damage on the urban tree canopy. The City of Grand Junction mobilized crews on Sunday night and has been adding in more resources to address the damage with each day. We recognize that residents may have concerns and questions regarding trees on private property and public rights-of-way, as well as what immediate actions can be taken to address the situation. The City is committed to providing a daily update until the clean-up is complete.
City Response Update for October 30 – Over 30 city staff members along with the three tree servicing companies are continuing work to fully address the storm damage. Please view an updated map of the response on our website.
The downed tree limbs are being recycled into material that will be used throughout the parks and recreation system throughout the year. The City also makes this mulch available to any resident within the City. Residents may access this mulch pile and receive free mulch by coming to the City of Grand Junction Parks Operations Office at 2529 High Country Court.
The recent winter storm was a serious and unprecedented event, and the City will remain mobilized to protect the safety of the public and to clean up our community.
