CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION: Dixson Park Access Changes

Autumn fall golf 1000

City of Grand Junction issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.

Dixson Park, a small neighborhood park at 287 27 Road, may look different to community members who are accustomed to seeing the park used for sport program rentals and other community uses. The lease agreement that allowed the City of Grand Junction to use Dixson Park has been terminated as a result of a sale of the property.

The Parks & Recreation Department used Dixson Park for multiple recreation and sport programs including most recently renting it to NZone Sports, who used the site for Flag Football. The previous owner had leased the property to the City for $1 per year and it has served the community since 1984. The continuation of this arrangement was not favored by the new owner.

To remedy this loss of field space, the City is working on other securing other options in the area. The City will notify the public and user groups when and if alternative options are secured. As of Friday, November 13, Parks Crews have removed all City equipment from the property including the park signage.
