The Colorado College hockey team was picked to finish sixth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference this season, according to the league's annual media poll released today.
The Tigers received 64 points in the voting of 24 media members from all eight NCHC cities and regional and national outlets that cover the conference. Defending national champion Denver was picked to win the regular-season title, receiving 19 first-place votes and 180 points overall. North Dakota was second with 160 points (four first-place votes), followed by Minnesota Duluth with 136 and St. Cloud State with 115. Western Michigan was picked fifth with 86 points.
Colorado College finished seventh in the NCHC standings last season and posted a 9-24-3 overall record. The Tigers defeated three ranked teams, including #10 Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., and completed a four-game season sweep over NCHC foe Miami.
The NCHC will hold its annual Media Day on Thursday, Sept. 22 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., the home of the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. Colorado College head coach Kris Mayotte and graduate student Bryan Yoon will represent the program in St. Paul.
CC opens the 2022-23 season with an exhibition game against at the Air Force Academy on Saturday, Oct. 1, and the regular season begins on Friday, Oct. 7, against Alaska Anchorage at Ed Robson Arena. 2022-23 NCHC Preseason Media Poll
