San Diego State junior Johannes Seeman has been tabbed Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week and teammate Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice has been named MW Freshman of the Week.
This is the second career MW weekly honor for Seeman and first for Gonzalez Fitzmaurice.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOHANNES SEEMAN, SAN DIEGO STATE
Junior, Pärnu, Estonia/ Audentes Sports Gymnasium
- Competing in the No. 1 singles position, defeated Arkansas’ Stefanos Savva, 6-4, 6-3.
- Won eight consecutive games, coming back from a 4-1 deficit in the first set and earned a 3-0 lead in the second.
- One of three Aztecs to win their singles match, as well the only one to win in two sets.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
EUGENIO GONZALEZ FITSMAURICE, SAN DIEGO STATE
San Diego, California/ California Pacific Charter School
- Competing in the No. 6 singles spot, earned first singles win against Arkansas’ Foster Rogers in his collegiate debut, 6-3, 0-6, 7-5.
- One of three Aztecs to win their singles match.
