Adams 14 is proud to observe Black History Month throughout the month of February this year.
The annual celebration highlights the contributions of African-Americans to the United States, honoring Black people throughout U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African-Americans living in the country today.
The community can help honor the African-American legacy include supporting Black business owners, donating to charities that promote anti-racism and equality, and educating themselves on Black historical figures and their contributions to society.
The Adams 14 Board of Education will officially proclaim February as Black History Month during its Feb. 14 regular meeting, furthering the district’s goal of creating an inclusive educational environment for all.
