Timberline Bank has named the Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Foundation as its Nonprofit of the Month for February, highlighting ongoing support for students and the broader Western Slope community.

During February, all tips and donations collected at Timberline Community Coffeebar will be donated to CMU. These funds will benefit the Century Scholarship, which aims to make higher education more accessible for Mesa County students, and will also promote participation in the Round Up for Rowdy program.

The Round Up for Rowdy initiative began in late 2025. It allows Timberline Bank debit card users to round up each purchase to the nearest dollar, with the extra change donated directly to the CMU Foundation. On average, participants contribute between $75 and $125 annually through this program.

“Timberline Bank’s commitment to CMU goes far beyond a single campaign. Their support of the Century Scholarship with the Round Up for Rowdy program demonstrates how local partnerships create meaningful, lasting access to higher education for Mesa County students. When businesses invest in students, they invest directly in the future of our community,” said Chenoa Jenkel, Director of Annual Giving at CMU Foundation.

Local businesses such as Asteria Theater, Colorado Craft Coffee and Beer House, and Trail Life Brewing are also supporting the campaign by using special coasters that promote Round Up for Rowdy.

“These coasters have definitely drawn interest from both the community and student body. Not only that, but it shows our support for what CMU and Timberline Bank bring to the Grand Valley,” said James Ferguson, owner of Colorado Craft Coffee and Beer House.

Several events are planned throughout February. On February 20, staff from CMU Foundation and Alumni and Career Services will participate in a Barista Day event at Timberline Bank. The following day features a Hockey Alumni Zone hosted by Timberline Bank. The month concludes on February 27 with a presentation of total donations raised and a prize drawing for a Yeti cooler valued at $475.

“Our partnership with CMU is built on more than sponsorships. It’s built on shared investment in the future of the Western Slope, through initiatives like Round Up for Rowdy and our Nonprofit of the Month program, we’re creating simple, accessible ways for our community to support local students,” said Co-CEO Jim Pedersen.

The bank emphasized that participation in Round Up for Rowdy is voluntary; only debit card purchases qualify toward donations. Customers can cancel their enrollment at any time. Donation amounts vary depending on individual spending patterns.
