Tennis Teams Named All-Academic by ITA

The Colorado College men's and women's tennis teams were among 275 Division III squads to be honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as All-Academic Teams for the 2021-22 season.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2021 and spring 2022).

The CC women's team had a 3.79 grade-point average for the past academic year, while the men's squad put together a 3.69 GPA. CC was one of only 106 Division III schools to have both teams earn the distinction, joining Schreiner University, Southwestern University, and Trinity University from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

"I was very excited when I saw the GPAs for our teams this year," head coach Anthony Weber said. "Both teams were young, working through the COVID pandemic, and learning how to balance it with a full tennis season. I could not be more proud of their efforts in the classroom."

In addition, 12 men and nine women from Colorado College were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for posting at least a 3.5 grade-point average during the '21-22 academic year.

Recent graduates Jacob Adas and Alex Kley, along with rising seniors Nick Bishop and Joseph Dryer, juniors Jack Delafield, Andrew Kaelin and August Knox, and sophomores James Andrews, Nate Beerman, Ty Kruger, Aiden Little and Lucas Pastor were honored from the men's team.

Meanwhile, recent graduate Elise Chassman, rising seniors Grace Dereemer and Olivia Dicks, juniors Elizabeth Girian, Gigi Jensen and Malia Rivera, and sophomores Avery Benko, Christina Heffron and Maddy Meister were honored from the women's team.
