Tobin Lonergan scored four goals and Natalie Slade made eight saves to lead the Colorado College women's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory over Bates College in the 2023 season opener.
Lonergan added a pair of assists for a game-high six points and Gabby Torres collected three goals and a helper in her first collegiate game for the Tigers.
The game was even for the first three quarters, as the teams were tied at 3-3 after the first, 6-6 at halftime and 9-9 and the end of the third quarter.
Lonergan put the game away by scoring the first three goals of the fourth period, two assisted by Devon Ortman, who finished with three assists.
"Our team played a solid 60 minutes all over the field," head coach Susan Stuart said. "We are happy with the discipline and patience our players showed, especially in the fourth quarter."
The Tigers forced Bates into 20 turnovers and outshot the Bobcats, 28-20. Annie Tucker led the Tigers with two caused turnovers.
Colorado College travels to Bloomington, Ill., to face Rhodes College on Saturday, Feb. 25 at noon (MT) and Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 11 am (MT).
